Definition

Water damage refers to various types of destruction caused by water intruding where it shouldn't, enabling attack of materials or systems through rotting of wood, rusting of steel, de-laminating of materials such as plywood, and many others. Water damage can originate from various sources including burst pipes, flooding, roof leaks, appliance malfunctions, and sewage backups. The severity is classified into categories based on water contamination level and classes based on evaporation rate.
