Moisture Meter
Instrument used to measure moisture content in materials.
Definition
A moisture meter is an instrument used to measure the moisture content of building materials during water damage assessment and drying verification. Pin-type meters use electrical resistance between two probes inserted into the material. Pinless meters use electromagnetic signals to scan larger areas without penetrating the surface. Thermo-hygrometers measure air temperature and humidity. Professional restorers use moisture meters to document initial damage, monitor drying progress, and verify when materials have reached acceptable moisture levels.
