Definition
HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration refers to filters that meet the standard of capturing at least 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns in diameter. In restoration, HEPA filters are used in air scrubbers, negative air machines, and vacuums to capture mold spores, dust, soot, and other fine particles. HEPA filtration is essential during mold remediation to prevent spore spread and is required by IICRC standards for professional mold work.
